Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club Radiothon
Radiothon is a fundraising campaign benefiting The Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club. The mission is to provide food and shelter to the hungry and homeless. Can you believe that there are more than 100 Bed & Bread clubs all over the country! There are many families out there struggling especially during the holiday season. Salvation Army strives to brighten the holidays for those families that need some assistance during this time. Take a look at the history behind the Salvation Army and the reasons Carter’s My Plumber decided to get involved with this incredible program.
Carter’s at Radiothon 2018
On Saturday, December 1st, Kelson Carter was live answering phones for the Salvation Army Radiothon Bed & Bread Club Radiothon with Pat Sullivan and Denny Smith on WIBC. The goal of this event was to raise $250,000 in just 2 days for shelter to women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. If you missed your chance to donate you can call 1-877-717-3223 or text the word HOOSIER to 41444.
What is the Salvation Army?
The Salvation Army is an international movement. An evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. William Boothe began the Salvation Army in 1865, from the streets of London. He wanted to help poor souls who were not allowed or welcomed into the traditional church, so he formed one of his own.
What Does The Salvation Army Do?
Asses the need
The Salvation Army tries to understand the obstacles in the community, the hardships, and challenges.
Builds the Programs
The Salvation Army builds their programs from the initial information that was observed from the assessment. They then build immediate relief whether it be short-term or long-term.
Invests in the Community
With the money that the Salvation Army raises, they turn it around and invest in the community. One of the ways the Salvation Army raises money is through Radiothons.
