Conventional Water Heaters:
Tank water heaters are more of the “original way” to conveniently having a surplus of hot water stored in your home. Tanks store up to 30-60 gallons of hot water and vary in size depending on how many gallons it stores. Tanks are around five feet tall so space for installation is required. But, tank style is less expensive to install versus tankless and last 10-12 years.

Again, there is no tank for tankless water heaters as you are paying for what you are actually using!

- Tankless Gas Heaters cost around $195 annually to operate AND electric models cost around $580 annually.
- The higher cost of electricity makes the electric tankless more costly to operate versus gas.
- Also to consider, tankless heaters cost a little more to purchase and install. Some models range from $525-$1,150 upfront with installation ranging from $800-$1,500. Tankless water heater models vary on the basis of brand and labor components.

Obviously, we all want the best product that is going to work GREAT for a LONG time for a LOW price. So, how do you decide? Here are some discussion points:

- If you are building a new home though, you may consider going tankless if you are willing to pay the more expensive upfront price. But look forward to your payback in savings in about 20 years.
- Tankless heaters require way less space than tank heaters.
